Subscription agents wishing to order these titles where there is an electronic component to the subscription, on behalf of their customers must, with exceptions noted below, order through JSTOR. A minimum of 20 orders must be included in one batch to qualify for the discount. JSTOR does not sell back issues of titles that participate in the program.
To purchase single issues or issues published prior to the current volume, please contact the corresponding publisher directly. The Journal Hosting Program pricing list is available for download. JSTOR will decide customer requests on a case-by-case basis.
From within a university, scholarly research seems easy to access. From outside a university, scholarly research seems impossible, if not expensive, to get to. And while JPASS users can look at any article in the available library, they can only download 10 articles per month or, at most, per year. The open-access policy of the National Institutes of Health NIH , for instance, mandates a maximum embargo of 12 months: After a year, all research published by the NIH is available to the public, free.
Every library in our network of more than 10, institutions worldwide is authorized to provide access to the content on JSTOR for walk-in users for free. Public libraries, such as Boston Public or the San Francisco Public, may provide off-site access to library card holders. You can read about the history of our work in this area and a discussion of how we moved beyond access to impact.
